media4change

We have started a project-cum-campaign which will bring about a social change in the media. The media has the capabilities to impact change in society. This is best done through its social coverage and continuous investigative reporting.    Our initial focus will be on print media, because of its major stake in the media industry. The first baby step we have taken towards our goal is by launching our very own newsletter, which will be a mirror our ideas, the ideas of  the young and raring.

Here are some of the reasons why we believe in it. These are also reasons why you should believe in it as well.

Despite being a country where more than half of the population lives below the poverty line, our newspapers surprisingly have little news coverage of them or for them. Is this because this important segment is not buying newspapers or rather the products which appear in the newspaper.  We of course agree and do not say that poverty related news is the only kind of news to be covered. Yet we do firmly believe in a society where everybody has a role in the functioning and happenings of the society, the media has this additional responsibility; which is missing.

With the boom in the media and rise in the number of newspapers, we seem to be running out of quality stories happening around town and ideas about making a change in the existing format of providing news & putting views in the world around us.

At such times we need some innovative people like you all to step forward and share your views and ideas with our team.

Whatever social change we think about in the media, is all thanks to our awareness about the impact of the media. We are sure any awareness brought about in media students will result in more responsible media persons, in the future.

Thus the launch of our newsletter.

Designed to be a youth shout box, this tabloid believes in "slapping", i.e., voicing our opinion against everything that is not quite right.

Keeping a track on 'Roz marah ki Baatein', we strive to make you think twice as you hop on.

We hope to stir up young minds and create a difference.

We thrive to stand out and be heard.

SLAP-An initiative by a few Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) students to do something that is very close to our heart. Apart from a look at the normal news that the regulars provide, this newsletter acts as a representative of the youth in every way possible. A social youth newspaper providing the right blend of youth culture and social structure of today's times. A place to be vocal by knowing what is right and showing what is wrong.

As young minds, we welcome each one of you to be a part of this newspaper in whatever way you can right from day one.

You can either be a part of the editorial team, the designing team, the sponsorship team or the PR and promotion team. We are also looking out for sponsorships and funds. If any one amongst you can help us out in anyway possible it would make a huge difference to all of us. Interested candidates can help us in any of the above mentioned ways.

What we require is someone who has a passion to work with a team and have a different approach to news reportage. We, here, believe in creating a difference and to stand apart from the rest. Our work will be distributed to various colleges in the city and from there, on our real journey begins. So please, feel free to join us anytime.

The smallest of suggestions may make a huge difference in the way we perceive things and move forward with our venture....hope you would take some time out and share your views and ideas with us...

Waiting for your valuable suggestion....

Last thing, we welcome you to be part of this campaign. Please Support us
